LEGO 71043 Hogwarts Castle Unboxing!

After the beautiful LEGO 75955 Hogwarts Express, this week's unboxing item recently captured many Potterheads wallets, the LEGO 71043 Hogwarts Castle! While I was building this castle, I had a profound realization...and that is "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." If you put the effort of piecing it, you can finish it (※Well that goes without saying).

LEGO 71043 Hogwarts is everything you see on the big screen including the tall towers. The back side is designed like a Dolls' House, filled with many classic sets from the movie. Build in Microscale, the castle contains many new building techniques. Minifigure include the founders of Hogwarts: Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Salazar Slytherin, Rowena Ravenclaw, and 27 Microfigures. Let's check out this castle's features!

▼Considering the scale and photo quality, I went and build it at the headquarter.

▼Package list all Microfigures and dementor.

▼I was stunned for five seconds when I opened it. No wonder its the second biggest lego set with a total of 40 bags(3 bags containing special pieces), and 4 manuals. Interesting note, the number of lego piece in this set is the same as Lego's first wizard Minifigure set number, what a fun coincidence.

▼Manual contains set discription, designer and graphic designer's description.

▼So many stickers! but for this set stickers are a simple clear way to express scenes from the movie, hard to achieve with just lego pieces. Relive the movie as you apply them, it's fun!

▼OK, let's start building. It took me over 21 hours, minus photo sessions it still took 20 hours.

▼Done! I felt a sense of pride and accomplishment in finishing it. With detail and appealing design, the Medieval Gothic style is soo glamours~

▼Turn it around, the back lets you relive every scene, Potterhead can immerse a long time in this!

▼The castle is divided into two section, a modular design with no "locked" joints.

▼From left to right: Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Salazar Slytherin, Rowena Ravenclaw.

▼Salazar Slytherin and Rowena Ravenclaw.

▼All microfigures and five boats.

▼Hogwarts freshman rides the Hogwarts express, arrives Hogsmeade station, rowboat with the gatekeeper, then joins The Sorting Ceremony.

▼Hungarian Horntail from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

▼In the Goblet of fire, you must steal a golden egg from the dragons' nest. In this scene, the Hungarian Horntail broke the shackle and chase Harry on the roof.

▼Besides the grandiose castle, Hagrid's Hut and Whomping Willow is also here along the car! Compare to the 75953 Hogwarts Whomping Willow set this is expressed with fewer pieces. LEGO truly is an infinite possibility!

▼Hagrid's Hut with spiders.

▼Ron is a bad driver.

▼Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Whomping Willow scene.

▼Before we go inside, check out the stained glass windows! Made with new pieces and building technique, this is also the set designer's favorite part.

▼Next, let's check out the interior. From the stickers to the set build, it's filled with surprises and consideration for that fans to discover. Hogwarts Dining Room, line up the Microfigures to recreate the 10 points to Gryffindor "black-box operation" scene.XD

▼The Great hall is an important location in the film. Sorting ceremony, socializing, house cup all happened here.

▼New snake pieces.

▼This scene originates from the Chamber of Secrets, Tom Riddle grew strong from stealing Ginny's vital and unleashed the snake monster.

▼The Grand Staircase has an interesting build with rotatable stairs. Interior uses many stickers to recreate the details, like Moaning Myrtle.

▼Rotating stair from the movie.

▼The wing keys an shown with stickers on transparent pieces and broom in here too. Magical chest room is right next to it, this is all from the movie Philosopher's Stone.

▼The Mirror of Erised, a device that reveals the deepest, most desperate desire of our hearts.

▼The Mirror of Erised - Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

▼The chamber is opened message written by blood is recreated with stickers, not so scary now~

▼From the chamber of secrets, multiple students are attacked and turn into stone with blood message written on the hallway.

▼With more scenes! Dolores Umbridge pink office, defense against the dark arts classroom, Potion classroom, Room of Requirement, Dormitory, and Library.

▼Appeared in The Order of the Phoenix, Dolores Jane Umbridge is the Senior Undersecretary to the Minister for Magic and Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor at Hogwarts.

▼Defense against the dark arts classroom. In the movie, Gilderoy Lockhart released Pixies and lost control.

▼Not as cramped as the movie but it still looks good.

▼Potion classroom

▼Dormitory and Library is above the Potion classroom and Room of Requirement

▼Dormitory

▼Let's go outside again!

▼ The cliff uses many different small pieces to create the layered landscape.

▼Dementor

▼You can recreate the sea with Round 1x1 Straight Side.

Conclusion:
No matter if you're a Potterhead or LEGO fan, the Hogwarts Castle will fulfill your appetite! Movie fans can relive many scenes from the film and LEGO fan will be surprised with the new pieces and building technique. The long build time and feeling of accomplished... it's been an enjoyable experience.

One more thing, the finish set is huge, 27" or 69 cm long. Structurally stable but micro trees and tower pieces might fall when moving, be careful.
